Community Bookshelf
Giving books new journeys and new readers.
Community Bookshelf is the charitable heart of The Fabled Brew.
Through donated and surplus books, we aim to place stories into schools, community organisations and the hands of readers who may otherwise face barriers to accessing books.
Why Access To Books Matters
Books do more than tell stories. They open doors to knowledge, creativity and opportunity while helping communities learn, connect and grow.
Reading Opens Doors
Books expand knowledge, spark imagination and create opportunities that can shape a person’s future.
Building Communities
Shared stories bring people together, encourage conversation and strengthen connections between readers.
Supporting Lifelong Learning
Access to books nurtures curiosity, learning and personal growth at every stage of life.
How Community Bookshelf Works
Every donated book follows a simple journey â from a generous donor to a new reader, school or community organisation.
Donate
Supporters donate books they no longer need, helping stories continue their journey.
Sort
Books are reviewed, organised and allocated according to community need and suitability.
Share
Books reach schools, community groups and readers who can benefit from them most.
Inspire
Stories continue their journey, encouraging learning, imagination and opportunity.
What Happens To My Donated Books?
Every donated book helps support the wider mission of The Fabled Brew.
Books donated to The Fabled Brew may be sold to support our mission, distributed through Community Bookshelf, used in reading and creative programmes, or shared with partner organisations.
Every donation helps keep books in circulation and supports literacy, reading and creativity within communities.
We call this covering the cost of the journey back to the shelves. Offering both options gives supporters flexibility while helping us keep Community Bookshelf sustainable as it grows.
Who We Hope To Support
Community Bookshelf exists to help place books where they can make the greatest difference. As the project grows, we hope to support readers, organisations and communities through access to books and stories.
Schools
Supporting classrooms, reading corners and school libraries with books that encourage learning, imagination and a love of reading.
Community Organisations
Helping local groups, charities and community spaces create opportunities for reading, learning and connection.
Families
Providing books to readers and families who may have limited access to books and educational resources.
Future Initiatives
Developing new partnerships, programmes and opportunities that expand access to books, creativity and lifelong learning.
Our Commitment
Every book donated through Community Bookshelf is treated with care and allocated fairly according to community need.
We are committed to transparency, accessibility and maximising the impact of every donation received.
Whether a book is distributed through Community Bookshelf, used within reading and creative programmes, shared with partner organisations or sold to support our wider mission, every donation contributes to keeping stories in circulation and creating opportunities for readers and communities.
Our Impact So Far
Every journey begins with a first book. These figures will grow as Community Bookshelf develops and more stories find new readers.
